Pair the images on the cards in this fun memory game. A great brain workout for both children and adults!

The game Memory

Instructions for the memory game

Train your memory with this classic memory game! Choose a difficulty level – the higher the level, the more cards to match.

How to play:

  • Flip a card and try to find another with the same image.
  • If it's not a match, the cards will be flipped back.
  • Remember the images to more easily find pairs later.
  • When all pairs are found, you've won!

What counts as a miss?

A miss occurs when you flip a card that you have already seen earlier during the game round, but which doesn't make a matching pair with your first selected card. Thinking before you flip your second card can help you avoid misses.

Levels and number of misses

The game has 30 levels that get harder as you progress. Each level group (same number of cards) contains three variants:

  • Standard level (no limit on misses).
  • Challenging level (only a certain number of misses are allowed).
  • Perfect level (0 misses allowed – can you do it?).

Examples of miss limits:

  • 12 cards: Max 1 miss (level 11)
  • 24 cards: Max 4 misses (level 14)
  • 36 cards: Max 8 misses (level 17)
  • 54 cards: Max 14 misses (level 20)

If you reach the miss limit before finding all pairs, the game is over!

Memory game for children – good for the brain

Memory is an excellent game for developing children's memory skills and concentration:

  • Let children return to the game regularly until they comfortably master the simpler levels
  • Many children make sudden progress when they develop their own memory strategies
  • To consolidate these strategies, play on several different occasions - not just once
  • Perfect times to play are on weekends and holidays!

Try different levels and challenge yourself to get better each time. Good luck!

Calculation of knowledge points

Each completed game level in Memory gives 1 knowledge points. You can collect a maximum of 30 knowledge points by completing all 30 levels.
In the game Memory, you can earn a total of 90 medals. Medals are awarded based on how many times you have completed a level:
  • Bronze medal: after completing 2 rounds.
  • Silver medal: after completing 5 rounds.
  • Gold medal: after completing 10 rounds.
Knowledge points are only awarded for levels you have not completed before, meaning those that do not yet have checked green circles. Even after completing a level and earning both knowledge points and medals, you can continue practicing it. However, this will not grant any additional knowledge points or medals.

Helini: Thank you for the suggestion! I've now added the number of misses to the logs. You should see entries like "3 misses and 51 moves" instead of just "51 moves". The update is live now!

The "Logs" of played memory games currently provide lot of information, which is good.
Yet, it would be great to have a column with the number of misses for each memory game as well in the "Logs".
Thank you.

Andrea: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback! 😊 I’ve added more options for the card backs, including the solid blue version. You can now choose between blue logo, black logo, solid blue, or gradient blue – and the game will remember your choice for the whole session.

The new shading on the unturned tiles. It creates a glare. I liked the solid, darker blue tiles better.

Sam: Thanks for the feedback! We've now implemented a feature that saves your speed preference (Fast, Normal, Slow) for how long the cards are shown before flipping back. Once you set it to Fast, it will remain your default setting for the current session.
As a reminder, clicking on a new card while two cards are already face up will make those cards flip back faster to keep the game flowing smoothly.

Please default to fast once I change it. Right now I have to change the speed to fast for every single game. Thank you!

Eric: Thank you for your question! The difficulty labels are based on how many players succeed, not just the theoretical difficulty of the level. Even though "48 cards - no misses" and "54 cards - no misses" are technically harder than "42 cards - no misses," more players have been able to complete them successfully. Since a higher success rate leads to a lower difficulty label, they are not labeled "super difficult" — the system only looks at how players actually perform.

If "42 cards - no misses" is "very difficult", why do both "48 cards - no misses" and "54 cards - no misses" are not "super difficult" either?
K
Keep it up!

Rob and Ian: I'm pleased to inform you that I've completely reorganized the game levels based on your feedback. The levels are now sorted in a more intuitive and progressive way, making the game experience clearer and hopefully more enjoyable. Your feedback was truly invaluable in helping improve the game. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts!

HI Daniel - YES, I'd support sorting the levels grouped by difficulty level first and number of cards second.
HG

7 April 2025 20:35
Would you prefer to have the levels grouped and organized with free play levels first? Then all levels that allow some misses, followed by the levels that don't allow any misses as the highest levels in the game. Would this be a better way to order the levels?
R
Rob
7 April 2025 10:25
I understand the rationale with the new levels, but like many others find it confusing and unnecessary for my enjoyment. I wonder if you could include a checkbox filter that users can turn on which restricts the view to only the 'free play' levels, to get us back to where we were?

Taytay123: Thank you for your feedback! We're glad to hear you like the game. It sounds like you're experiencing some issues with having to scroll down a lot on your device, which you referred to as a "tablecloth" (perhaps you meant tablet?).

To help us improve your gaming experience, we'd love to know more about what device you're using and its screen size. Please feel free to contact us at Helpful Games with these details so we can work on fixing this scrolling issue for you.

You can reach us through our contact form (the link is at the bottom of every page on our website), and we'll be happy to help make the game more enjoyable for your specific device.

Ian: Ian: Thank you for your feedback. I understand that the changes might feel confusing at first. If you prefer the previous levels, you can focus on the 'Free play' modes (the levels without max misses limits).

The new levels have been added to create a more gradual and challenging progression. I've added a new difficult level with 54 cards at the end. The idea is to provide both beginners and experienced players with a more satisfying experience, where it's not just about flipping cards, but also challenging your memory at different difficulty levels.

Please let me know if you have any more thoughts or suggestions on how the game could be improved!
